This gallery is really great.. they seem to be eschewing the common path such spaces normally venture down. They show local artists, and don’t seem too concerned with fame, fortune, or the fact they are becoming a globally recognized venue. I spoke with the director of the space at an opening a few months ago who told me they get submissions from around the world, but usually only show local talent, sometimes curating shows that blend obviously well trained artists with true Naïve art. The opening I was at was a group show with memorable pieces by Brent Crothers, who made a geodesic dome out of tessellated keys and a giant mound of woven tire treads, and John Mascaro who created a massive cardboard box structure hanging from the ceiling that makes Phoebe Washburn’s work look a but tame – mascaro also makes paintings but the only one I can find is here: http://flickr.com/photos/58236849@N00/394294283
