57 Underground is an organization of artists. A nonprofit, public benefit corporation with both federal and state tax exemption status, its mission is to provide a supportive environment for the creation and exhibition of meaningful, expressive, individual contemporary art; to encourage dialogue and networking among artists and the arts community; to provide a site to share contemporary, sometimes experimental, work with the larger community; to increase public access to and understanding of contemporary art; and to offer art projects and events in which the larger community can participate.

All events at the 2,000 square foot gallery are free and open to the public. Since joining the Pomona Arts Colony in 1998, 57 Underground has worked with other Arts Colony galleries on larger community projects and has sponsored events to aid educational organizations.
