1998 Cris Dam & Leah Stuhltrager move to the only space they can afford in NYC: a vacant storefront on the corner of Marcy & Hope St in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
1999 Cris Dam & Leah Stuhltrager open Peer Gallery in Piermont, NY. Commute every weekend over GW Bridge to sell art.
2000 Piermont’s traffic falls to mighty drawl of Palisades Mall. Dam & Stuhltrager begin hosting "happenings" in their Brooklyn storefont as "Dam, Stuhltrager".
2001 366 Stories. First official show in Brooklyn. First NYTimes Review. Curator Sally Herships goes onto career on NPR.
2002 Mark Esper turns the gallery into his laboratory and never leaves. A yearly crowd favorite, Esper has had five solo shows at Dam, Stuhltrager.
2002 An artist knocks with a little handmade portfolio. Destined to become one of the gallery’s most recognized names, an Australian introduces herself as Ruth.
2003 Gallery receives first & only hatemail in response to William Powhida’s postcard that reads "Dear Rich People, We have your Kids. Send Money or They are Going To Die."
2003 Breuk Iversen collects garbage from every gallery in Williamsburg & exhibits dealers’ trashy secrets under very toxic smelling polyurethane.
2004 Rachel Pascua comes aboard to help row upstream in a shipload of work.
2004 Borrow painting by David Salle which will not fit through door framed. It’s hung without the frame next to six Fred Wilson photographs. Viewers want to know who the artist is.
2004 Salvatore Pupperone the Redbone Coonhound joins Dam, Stuhltrager.
2005 www.damstuhltrager.com is launched.
2005 Mark Andreas exhibits SEED SPREADER in the front gallery window. Receiving so much attention, the sculpture has been traveling from show to show consistantly, never stopping home for more than a few weeks.
2005 Mark Esper calls from Artbots in Dublin asking to bring back to Brooklyn a fantastic new talent he found. Next month, the Talented Mr. Ryan Wolfe enters the gallery for the first time.
2005 The wall is broken down. Adjoining commercial space is acquired. The gallery triples in size.
2005 -scope Miami. First Art Fair. Ruth Marshall unveils a complete departure from her previous work: knit pelts based on her housecat, Rocky. A textile artist is born.
2006 So many attend the opening for Gae Savannah and Michael Schall the floor sinks several inches. Artnet covers it.
2006 Ryan Wolfe’s robotic grass installation at -scopeNY secures a year of museum exhibits and acquisitions, launching the gallery internationally as a kinetic art powerhouse.
2006 Dam, Stuhltrager opens its Sculpture Garden.
2006 Cris Dam leaves his post as co-Director in order to be reclaim time to be an artist.
2006 Leah Stuhltrager leaves her dayjob to focus on her rapidly growing role of art dealer.
2006 Two curators from different museums call to say, "Come immediately. A young artist, Brose Partington… He is going to be big." Two months after first meeting, Brose debuts with Dam, Stuhltrager at -scopeMiami.
2006 Jennifer Junkermeier is officially inducted as DSG Co- Director after magically jumping into a pool and not managing to actually get wet.
2006 Devrim Kadirbeyoglu becomes the European correspodent for Dam, Stuhltrager. Turkish press raves about the arrival of Ryan Wolfe, Ruth Marshall and Mark Esper.
2007 Museum Exhibits for Dam, Stuhltrager artists… North Adams, MA/ Indianapolis, IN/ Boston, MA/ Madrid, Spain/ Breda, Netherlands/ Istanbul, Turkey/ Tallahassee, FL/ New York, NY/ Weisbaden, Germany… In less than a year.
2007 Brose Partington is selected to create a 150ft public installation for Lincoln Center Plaza in NYC during the artfairs.
2007 The California desert is wired for Mark Esper’s and Brose Partington’s installations at Coachella.
2007 Marc DePuechredon and Dam, Stuhltrager team up to present Brose’s huge installation in Basel during Art Basel.
2007 Brose wins the coveted Efroymson Grant. A $20,000 award given to only 5 individuals a year.
2007 An unrelenting travel schedule brings reinforcements for the hometeam: Ryan Meza, Jackie Friscia and Katie Prior.
2007 Mark Andreas unveils two new sculptures in his "Reactive Sculpture" series. Dam, Stuhltrager takes his work to Turkey, his first International exhibit with the gallery.
2007 After a seven year absence from exhibiting, Cris Dam shows his painting after being consumed by others careers- His exhibit nearly sells out. A week after his exhibit closes, he marries Susan Braeuer.
