Artlog "Connect" – NewsletterThursday, July 17, 2008 Hey, Artloggers, welcome to the Artlog Newsletter. We are excited to announce the latest developments around Artlog.com and let you know about upcoming events. If you dig Artlog, help us spread the word with our new invite widget. Things here at Artlog have been quite busy these last few weeks; we are taking advantage of the summer torpor, taking stock of what we've figured out in six months of being live on the web and re-building the site. We're pretty pumped and reckon we'll re-launch in mid-to-late August with a whole host of new/improved tools and slightly re-aligned focus. So now's a good time to head over to the perspectives forum to let us know what we are doing right and what we could improve. For those of you looking for a quick escape from the city, Artlog is hosting an exciting day trip to East Hampton on Saturday July 26 with Scope Hamptons and the Soho House. Artloggers will be transported roundtrip by chartered bus from Manhattan to East Hampton for a VIP tour of Scope Hamptons, an international art fair featuring 40 galleries from 15 countries. Artloggers may also participate in the VIP Collector Mentorship Auction. Artloggers will also be shuttled to Elie Tahari in East Hampton to enjoy a cocktail while viewing More Than This, a site specific show curated by Andrea Salerno.
Olafur Eliasson's Waterfalls have dominated the headlines and we have created a quick guide to make experiencing it easy and fun. If you are down near the seaport over the weekend experiencing the waterfalls – also check out David Byrne's installation. Byrne transforms the interior of the landmark Battery Maritime Building in Lower Manhattan into a 9,000 sq. foot massive sound sculpture.
Warm Up: the Saturday summer party at PS1 is back for a 10th year. This outdoor summer party has been a favorite of ours for years as it combines the 4 pillars of summer culture in New York City: architecture, art, dance and Brooklyn Lager. Word on the Artlog boards is that last week was so crowded you could not even see the outdoor installation. We hope that it was a just a post July 4th first PS1 of the summer swell - so see you there! You can also check out the Maya Lin designed SculptureCenter nearby.
Happening in New York:If you don't feel like trekking to Queens, a new batch of NYC museum shows have opened and provide plenty of air conditioned relief from the summer heat.
As always, get in touch with either Dylan (iamstillalive) or Manish (nish) on the site if you have any questions/comments. Thanks. -Artlog
