Becker is the dean of the School of the Arts at Columbia University and the author of several books, including Surpassing the Spectacle: Global Transformations and the Changing Politics of Art (Rowman & Littlefield, 2002), and the forthcoming collection of essays Thinking in Place: Art, Action, and Cultural Production. Presented by the MFA Art Criticism and Writing Department.
