Alexander Calder is one of the most beloved, important, and critically acclaimed artists of the twentieth century. A highly focused historical show with the spirit of a young artist’s first retrospective, Alexander Calder: The Paris Years, 1926√¢‚Ǩ‚Äú1933 explores a time when, from the ages of 27 to 34, Calder created his first wire drawings in space, performed his Circus (made in Paris 1926 and part of the Whitney’s permanent collection), and invented his signature mobiles.

This exhibition was organized by the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, and the Centre Pompidou, Paris.
