The Noguchi Museum presents a survey of over 50 works drawn from its collection, including a number of rarely seen sculptures, studies and models. Objects representing all aspects of Noguchi’s career are installed in the second floor galleries, ranging from polished metal sculptures inspired by Noguchi’s stay in Paris in the 1920s to works from the last two decades of his life when he was increasingly dedicated to working with the natural properties of a variety of stones. A selection of preparatory models for Noguchi’s large scale, site-specific public spaces will also be on view. These include a recently fabricated model reproducing Noguchi’s ambitious design for the five-acre site at the Billy Rose Sculpture Garden in Jerusalem from 1960-1965, as well as models for play equipment Noguchi designed for Ala Moana Park in Hawaii in 1940, presumed lost or destroyed until 2006, when they and other works were donated to the Museum.
