GTK-Georgalas, Turek & Kuppinger

For our May exhibition

Working in Multiple mediums and having exposed all throughout the borough, Turek and Georgalas have established themselves as some of the finest upcoming talents Brooklyn has to offer. Georgalas’ work has been noted as “a homage to the anti-art movement of Marcel Duchamp…a wry humor whispers out of his renderings in ink, pencil and paint…”. It is this style which is complimented by James Turek’s hard lined illustrations.

Blunt statements about “Hipster Culture” and daily life in the hotbed of Williamsburg Brooklyn are common themes which are ever evident in Turek’s work. These drawings are at times carefree and derive from cartoons, but trade in repeating patterns as meditation of natural or psychological spaces.

Lisa Kuppinger has been making a splash throughout the greater Chicago area. Exhibiting with GardenFRESH gallery and in several additional galleries throughout the midwest , Ms. Kuppinger speaks of her work as ”...the inverted practice of discussing serious matters through the use of an absurd or comical language, in an attempt to accept these matters in multiple manners.” She has been described as an “artist who in her words explores the idea of being a wordy worldling through animalisms, hair-brained cookery, hocus pocuses and other billowy riddlings”.

It is with great pleasure that we introduce these artists to a larger audience.
